The aim of Cartoon Classroom is to actively promote the teaching of cartoon-related skills by introducing educational organisations to professional cartoonists with lecturing or teaching experience.
Classes and Workshops involving the production of Cartoons and Comic-Strips have been a proven success in encouraging young people and adults to think creatively and exercise their reading and writing skills. Add to this the key element of drawing whether in a serious or humorous fashion and you have an engaging framework for projects that can complement key areas of the national curriculum for schools.
It's not just young people that enjoy learning the skills of cartooning. Adults have found many areas of their lives can benefit from being able to quickly and confidently draw ideas that come to mind for business presentations, company newsletters, websites as well as for those that wish to pursue a career in comics or animation.
Cartoon Classroom should be the first port of call for educators to find cartoonists, and for cartoonists to find educators. We invite schools, colleges, galleries, libraries and practising professional cartoonists to register with us, providing an online information service.
Cartoon Classroom is a non-profit venture, supported by financial assistance from Caption (Oxford's annual Small-Press comics convention). It is overseen by comics-industry professionals with long-standing experience in educational fields.
